Water Damage Video of property in Hampstead

This property in Hampstead was water damage from a flood that came from a burst pipe, my previous blog with still photos of the water damage explains the circumstances of the flood.

Some interesting observations can be made from the video below, first take note at the beginning as you can see water has penetrated the timber to the top of the window frame and the ne paint is pealing away, over the 7 days or so when we had dehumidifiers drying out the property the cracking to the paintwork around the the windows got worse. We find that when drying out a property after it has suffered the peril of water damage the full extent of the damage cannot be assessed until the drying out process has been completed, only then can a full assessment of the repair works be undertaken.

Another observation is the fact that the plasterboard ceilings have stood up to the water damage very well in fact on this property ounce we had dried the room out we were able to make good the holes fill and decorate the room without having to replace the ceilings, this  was mainly due to the fact that the ceilings were new 12.5mm plasterboard ceilings and much  more stable that a 9.5mm ceiling. Just out of view are the new carpets we had temporarily covered them up before undertaking the investigations into the ceiling but as soon as we had finished the temporary coverings were removed allowing the carpets to dry, all carpets were professionally cleaned after the decorators had finished.
